Vacations are loved by people of all ages, whether it is a long holiday or a quick getaway. Vacations are also a very important part of our lives as it gives us our much-needed relaxation and rejuvenation from the tedious schedule of our daily lives. For most people taking a long holiday for making big trips is not always feasible. A short 48 hours trip or a weekend trip is the perfect way of unwinding and getting away from our monotonous lives.

A trip of 48 hours can be of many types depending on what a person wants. It can be a staycation, a beach trip, a visit to a hill station nearby, a camping or trekking trip; or it can be either a relaxing trip or one where you can explore a new place if you are looking for adventure. This trip can be taken with family, friends, a couple’s getaway or even a solo trip! Whatever type of trip one decides to take and wherever it might be; there are several important things to keep in mind in order to make the trip a success and avoid any last-minute mishaps!

Successful travel tips for a 48 hour trip-:

♦︎ The most important part of any trip is choosing the destination cleverly. Since you have only 48 hours in hand the destination must be close and easy to reach, otherwise, most of the time in hand will be wasted in the journey

♦︎ The purpose of the trip should be kept in mind in order to make the most of your time. Whether you want to relax on your trip or you are up for some adventure should be decided beforehand and taken into consideration while choosing the destination. In other words, you should do what makes you happy or else you will just end up stressing yourself more while you are on your vacation and nobody wants that!

♦︎ Choosing the right people to go on a trip with is equally important as choosing a destination. Some like holidaying with their friends, some with their significant others, some love spending quality time with their family while some people just love venturing out solo! Also whoever you choose to go with, their preferences should also be given weight if you want to avoid a complete disaster of a vacation! It is advisable that you take a trip with likeminded people in order to thoroughly enjoy your 48 hours.

♦︎ It is advisable to have an itinerary but also don’t over plan. You can schedule a few things and then let the day plan out itself. It is less stressful and an enjoyable way of travelling.

♦︎ If possible book flight or train tickets in advance to save a lot of money.

♦︎ Carrying a small backpack/ suitcase and packing light is ideal for a short trip. After all how many things can somebody need in 48hours!? Pack just the essentials and maybe one set of extra clothes. Dragging a very heavy bag throughout the trip is not a pleasant experience. Never forget to carry with you a flashlight, extra money- cash and cards and of course snacks. You never know when these things might come handy and nobody wants to get stuck somewhere unknown without money or food!

♦︎ Carry an emergency first-aid kit always as it is better to be prepared for minor accidents like cuts and scrapes. You might not always get a chemist nearby so make sure to have a supply of band-aids, creams and ointments and some basic medicines in hand.

♦︎ Always make extra copies of your passport and other important documents. Keep them in the mail so that if anything is lost or stolen the softcopies will be extremely helpful.

♦︎ You should be prepared for some odd and unexpected expenses. Therefore always allow for some flexibility in your budget. Moreover, it’s okay to splurge occasionally. Trips are not the ideal times to look out for the cheapest of deals.

♦︎ Booking of accommodation should be done from beforehand as it not only gives a sense of security but also saves time on reaching the destination and no time is wasted on looking for hotels and places to stay.

♦︎ Similarly, it would be clever looking up some restaurants in and around the chosen destination before your trip. It is a lot easier to find a nice place to eat if you read and do your research in advance whether it’s one of the best restaurants around or a small eatery. But don’t forget to try the street food! Eating street food lets you know about the culture if you are travelling to a new place.

♦︎ Walking is a good way to explore a new place be it discovering unknown neighbourhoods or walking through the city. So don’t forget to carry a good pair of shoes, your feet will thank you!

♦︎ Download all essential apps on your phone, be it for maps, hotels, restaurants or anything you require. Today there are apps for almost everything one can think of and these apps will really come handy, reliable and save time when you are out there exploring a new place. Also, don’t forget to take an extra USB charger or a power bank because phones are one of the most important things in today’s life.

♦︎ Don’t hesitate to ask the hotel staff for information. They deal with travellers’ every day and are themselves locals; hence they know the best places to eat, shop and the tourist attractions worth visiting. They are generally very helpful.

♦︎ It will be extremely helpful to learn basic phrases like “Hello”, “Thank You”, “Where is the bathroom?” and “Goodbye” in the native language of the place you are visiting. It will not only make interacting with the locals easier, they will also be comfortable talking to you and will appreciate your efforts of trying to learn about them.

♦︎ Lastly, don’t forget to enjoy, make tons of memories and take pictures!!
